Empty Hall
Music: Graham Guest & Moses Guest
Words: Graham Guest
She was born in ’23
In a small town in New Jersey
She ran away when she was young
Took up with strangers in Oregon
She met a man and had a kid
Got old and died, forever hid
But you’d think she’d have told me a story or two about love
And you’d think she’d have taught me a thing or two about life
But she never said nothing ‘cept nothing ‘bout nothing at all
And it was kind of sad, like an empty hall
She had no name; she made up one
She had no photographs, no family album
She had no school; she had no car
She had no past, no one could scar
And I’ll never know just what happened
I don’t know why she had a son
