This next poem, which is our final selection for this album, is more than the music of language, it's a veritable painting of imagination. It's the work of David Bixby of Williams, Arizona. Titled: "Cliff by the Lighthouse".
Meet me at the cliff by the lighthouse
Together we'll watch for whales
I'll light my lantern to warm our hands
We'll count the ships with sails
We'll bundle up all of our troubles
Cast them into the sea
I'll hold you in the afterglow of the sunset
Here with me
Meet me at the cliff by the lighthouse
Saddle your pony and go
Rendezvous there before sunset falls
We don't want to miss the show
You be my gypsy princess
I'll be your captain ashore
I'll hold you in the afterglow of this psalm
Forever more
Meet me at the cliff by the lighthouse
